  • ONGOING COLLECTIONS FOR MISSION

    We have continuous collections for

St. John's Breadline:  We collect plastic containers with lids which are used to send home meals for those who are served through St. John's Breadline, a ministry to feed the hungry in Springfield, IL.  There is a collection barrel located on the main floor hallway.

Shoeman Ministry:  We collect good used shoes to donate to the Shoeman Ministry, who use these shoes to provide for needs in both the United States and various countries in Africa.  For more information on the Shoeman Ministry please go to their website.  There is a collection barrel on the main floor hallway.  We ask that all pair of shoes either have their laces tied together or have a rubber band holding them together.

Penny Jar / Angel Tree:  We collect loose change in an empty 5 gallon water bottle located on a table in the main hallway. The money collected is used to purchase items for the local Angel Tree ministry which provides Christmas gifts for children in need.

Food Bank:  We have a grocery shopping cart located in the main hallway where you may drop off food items for the community food bank. The community food bank is located in the Salvation Army Store.  There is a list of the items most needed in the shopping cart, but all food is accepted.

WEDDING POLICY

Since you are reading this note, I assume you are interested in holding your wedding here.  Great!  And since you are planning on holding your wedding in a church, I assume you and your future spouse are Christians (see 2 Corinthians 6:14).  If this last assumption is wrong, you may want to think through why you want to be married in a church before proceeding with your plans.

Marriage is God’s idea (see Genesis 2), so I hope the reason you are seeking to be married in a church building is because you are seeking to live out your marriage (and your entire life) under God’s guidance.

If you are a member of this church family you need to check with the church secretary on the availability of the church building and then you need to contact me, Pastor Matt, to set up an appointment as soon as possible so we can go over a variety of things both great and small.

If you and your future spouse are Christians but are not members of this part of God’s family, then I believe it is important you begin the process of seeking out a church home.  God calls His people not only unto Himself, but also into His family, found here on earth in His church.  There are many different church families in our area, and different doesn’t necessarily mean better or worse.  Each Christian needs to find which church family is the place God would have them be a part.

If you have not done so already, you are most welcome to come and experience this church family.  Our Sunday morning worship services are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and there are Bible Classes for all ages at 8:00 a.m. (an adult “early bird” class) and 10:00 a.m. (for all other Bible Classes for adults, youth, and children).  We also have many other fellowship and study groups that meet during the week.

We would be glad to pencil in your wedding date as you search for a church home.  If you decide to join here, you already have your date reserved.  And if you choose to join another church family you could still hold the wedding here (with your pastor officiating) or in the church building where you decided to belong.

I hope God richly blesses your marriage and I hope you understand these guidelines are provided because I firmly believe being involved in a Church family opens ones marriage to greater blessings from our Heavenly Father.

                                                                                 God's Blessings to you,

                                                                                  Matt Ferguson, pastor
